Ivanhoe’s is the restaurant in Upland, Indiana famous for its 100 different shakes and 100 different sundaes. In addition to the ice cream treats, customers love the hamburgers, chicken salad, fruit salad, and tenderloin sandwiches. At lunchtime and on summer evenings, there are often long lines made up of tourists and locals, families and motorcyclists, faculty and students, athletic teams and farmers. One reviewer wrote:
The people who come into the restaurant are friendly, as are those who serve at the restaurant. Year round they offer fresh, tasty vegetables and fruit, and their food is made to order. They know how to serve food that people love to eat, and they have many healthy choices.
Ivan, Carol and Mark Slain have owned and operated “Ivanhoe’s Ice Cream and Sandwich Shoppe,” formerly “Wiley’s Drive-In,” since 1965.
